Online club and facility directory

Detectivelooking

I've been looking for a while now at how we can make it easy for the public to find out where to play sport.

Many County Sports Partnerships, sports development teams and sports clubs are interested, so I've been working with our digital agency and a small working group to figure out the answer.

We've now agreed a plan, and I should have some support and advice out to you in January (more details to follow). One of those options is to use the National Club Directory service, they have :

  • a good user-friendly service
  • a system for helping you build the service into your website (here's one they did with Norfolk CSP)
  • an existing database with information from 90 of the national governing bodies

This is by no means the only option, but it's a good one. I mention it now because they'll be at the School and Sports Partnership conference in Telford this week (Stand 204). If you're there then it's worth talking to them and finding out if their option is right for you. If you can't make it there then feel free to email guy.rees@sportshub.com for any more information on this option.

New photography in the photo library

Orienteering_2 There are 30 new photos in the Promoting Sport photo library. 20 of them are orienteering photos courtesy of British Orienteering - thanks very much Caroline.

The other 10 are from a recent photo shoot by Sport England, and are split between running, football and wheelchair basketball.

Do you have any high-quality photos(over 10MB files and good pictures) which you would be happy for others to use? If so then please send them on a CD to me at John Ainsworth, Sport England, Victoria House, Bloomsbury Square, London WC1B 4SE and I'll get them up on the site.
